Overview
3-Year Free Cash Flow Margin Change measures how a company’s Free Cash Flow Margin has changed between the latest annual reporting period and the annual reporting period three years earlier.
Free Cash Flow Margin measures the percentage of revenue remaining as free cash flow after capital expenditures. By comparing the margin across a three-year period, this metric shows whether the company’s ability to convert revenue into free cash flow has improved, remained relatively stable, or declined.
The change is expressed in percentage points, rather than as a percentage change.

How StockZuse Uses the Metric

StockZuse evaluates the change in percentage points so that the comparison reflects the direct difference between the two margins.

Interpretation
This metric provides a measure of the direction and magnitude of change in a company’s Free Cash Flow Margin over three years.
A positive value indicates that a larger percentage of revenue is being converted into free cash flow than three years earlier. A negative value indicates that a smaller percentage of revenue is being converted into free cash flow.
The metric should be considered together with Latest Free Cash Flow Margin and the other ZuseScore metrics rather than used by itself to evaluate a company.
Limitations
Free Cash Flow Margin can be affected by changes in operating cash flow and capital expenditures, either of which may vary substantially from one reporting period to another.
Capital expenditures may also fluctuate because of significant investments or changes in a company’s investment cycle. As a result, the three-year change may reflect both changes in the underlying business and the timing of capital spending.
StockZuse requires matching annual Operating Cash Flow, Capital Expenditures, and Revenue data for both periods. If the required historical data are unavailable, 3-Year Free Cash Flow Margin Change is not scored.
