Revenue Growth Acceleration

Page Updated on September 20, 2026

Overview

Revenue Growth Acceleration measures whether a company’s most recent annual revenue growth rate is increasing or decreasing relative to its longer-term revenue growth rate.

Rather than measuring revenue growth alone, this metric compares the company’s Latest Revenue Growth with its 3-Year Revenue CAGR.

A positive result indicates that the latest annual revenue growth rate is higher than the company’s three-year compound annual growth rate. A negative result indicates that the latest annual growth rate is lower.

The result is expressed in percentage points.

Formula

StockZuse calculates Revenue Growth Acceleration as:

For example, if a company’s Latest Revenue Growth is 3.26% and its 3-Year Revenue CAGR is 2.00%:

The company’s Revenue Growth Acceleration is therefore +1.26 percentage points.

How StockZuse Uses the Metric

StockZuse uses Revenue Growth Acceleration as a Business Quality metric within the ZuseScore.

The metric provides a way to distinguish between a company whose recent revenue growth is increasing relative to its longer-term growth rate and one whose recent growth is slowing.

A positive value indicates acceleration, while a negative value indicates deceleration. A value near zero indicates that the latest revenue growth rate is relatively close to the company’s three-year growth rate.

ZuseScore Point System

Revenue Growth Acceleration contributes a maximum of 6 points to the ZuseScore.

Revenue Growth Acceleration Points
+5.00 percentage points or more 6 / 6
+2.00 to less than +5.00 percentage points 5 / 6
+0.50 to less than +2.00 percentage points 4 / 6
-0.50 to less than +0.50 percentage points 3 / 6
Greater than -2.00 through -0.50 percentage points 2 / 6
Greater than -5.00 through -2.00 percentage points 1 / 6
-5.00 percentage points or less 0 / 6

If the revenue history required to calculate Revenue Growth Acceleration is unavailable, the metric is not scored. Consistent with the ZuseScore methodology, unavailable metrics reduce the possible-point denominator rather than receiving zero points.

Interpretation

Revenue Growth Acceleration adds context that revenue growth by itself does not provide.

For example, two companies could both report positive revenue growth, while their recent growth trends differ substantially. One company’s latest growth rate may be above its longer-term rate, while another company’s latest growth rate may have fallen below its longer-term rate.

The metric therefore measures the change in the rate of revenue growth, rather than simply whether revenue increased or decreased.

Because the calculation subtracts one percentage rate from another, Revenue Growth Acceleration is expressed in percentage points, not as a percentage change.

Revenue Growth Acceleration should be considered together with StockZuse’s other financial metrics rather than as a standalone investment conclusion.

Data Used

Revenue Growth Acceleration uses two other calculated StockZuse metrics:

Latest Revenue Growth — the company’s most recent annual revenue growth rate.

3-Year Revenue CAGR — the compound annual growth rate of revenue over the three-year measurement period.
